The second annual Kaggle Career Con kicks off tomorrow (April 16th, 2019), offering a free three-day digital event focused on helping new data scientists land their first job. This is a good opportunity for students, data science enthusiasts and potential career switchers to get some valuable insight on breaking into the field from working data scientists. The event has a variety of activities planned including daily coding workshops, advice on resumes and interviews from hiring managers and mixer events that will give users the opportunity to connect with companies and other data science enthusiasts. I am not entirely sure whether registration and/or a Kaggle account is required to attend, but the link provided has a registration button.
It is important to note that while the content will be streamed live, it is not clear if and when it will be made available afterward. Therefore, if you are interested, it is a good idea to check the schedule to see which parts interest you and try to attend the live event. I plan to attend as many sessions as I am able and post summaries of key points on my blog; my hope is that this will allow those who aren't able to attend live to have access to the most important information. Of course, the networking activities will only be available live.
For those of you interested in getting a jump start, check out this recent podcast from DataCamp: Getting Your First Data Science Job.
I will update this post with links to each post summarizing the sessions I attend in the coming days:
